Objective : For piloting of Phenyl Ethyl alcohol manufacture carry out the following dosing:-

Synopsis :- Many a times it becomes a challenge to precisely carry out multiple chemical dosing specially when the reaction is exothermic and there is a chance of it becoming a run-away reaction. The correct quantity and the sequence of chemical dosing becomes very important to ensure proper yield and higher conversion. Please go through this case study as to how ATR ASAHI went about it.

RM 1 (Styrene)

Challenge :- Dosing all three chemicals was required in parallel with ratio control and cascade control with each other as Styrene will be master controller and other two will be slave controller. The reaction was required to be controlled precisely since it was a exothermic reaction and hence the ratio and the sequence of dosing was required to be carried out precisely.

Solutions :-

  • 1. ATR ASAHI, along with our principles M/s Baoding Shenchen Precision Pump Company Ltd. China, first created the concept, logic document to understand and document the client requirement.
  • 2. Baoding Shenchen created the concept document and the same was approved by the client.
  • 3. Based on the concept document, an offer was made to the client for the 3 pump heads and 1 controller. The pump heads were to be supplied with suitable tubings to handle Styrene, Hydro chloric acid and Hydrogen Peroxide.
  • 4. On receipt of the PO, suitable system was designed and supplied, the scope of supply included the controller unit, the 3 pump heads and the tubings.
  • 5. The site activity included the erection, supervision and trials of the complete unit set up. The tubing connection was made to the feed vessels and the other end was connected to the reactor.
  • 6. The complete simulation of the reaction was carried out followed by actual reaction was carried out and supervised, to ensure that the complete system was running as per the concept document.
